If you do come back, Use love To hold me here; To hold me down On this cold table Like the doctor used to. Cover me in kisses After changing the white Paper For sterility purposes. But check me with a Tongue depressor first, Because I’m sick with this. Overgrown Like a case of mold in the cave of my Throat Is that quiet ache That won’t get swallowed away. My clothes all folded neatly at the door, Shoes pointing. Maybe you’re in your office, waiting Waiting to change the paper Before I tie my gown, and After you cover me in kisses. I can’t believe no one has ever Shut me up like this. My mind a rolling void, Except for one thought; It’s If you do come back, Use love To hold me here.
